For the 4th year in a row, Santa Rosa County 4-H members have made it possible for handicapped students from Westgate to attend a once in a lifetime event. Starbase Atlantis is a week long hands on adventure in Math, Science, Flight Dynamics and Fun!
4-H members team up with Westgate students as buddies for the week to assist in following directions, building rockets, designing a safe seat for their space shuttle pilots and flying a flight simulator from Pensacola NAS to Whiting Field.
Only members who have had their own Starbase Adventure week are asked to accompany the Westgate students. And most of them don't have to be reminded that this week is about their buddies experience. Our 4-H members love to serve these students and many of them help throughout the year at the campus in everything from a student Relay for Life to Graduation.
